The footwear exports in Sichuan Province face the pressure of weaker euro

Weak euro has caused impacts of footwear exporters to EU market, which just recovered from recession. So far this year appreciation of the yuan against the euro exceeds 10 per cent, and trend of appreciation will be possible, said Li Ying in Chengdu Aiminer Footwear, adding that now our exports are facing huge pressure of continued weakening of euro and on production costs rising.

For the labor intensive sectors they are the most suffered ones hit by devaluation of euro, this is because these products feature low profits and high competition.

For preventing further losses the experts suggest enterprises try to choose RMB or other stable currencies for transaction in foreign trade. The areas allowing RMB cross-border settlement may further expand by the end of this month, and Sichuan will be one to be included in the expansion.
