CHINA NATIONAL TEXTILE AND APPAREL COUNCIL (CNTAC)

The China National Textile and Apparel Council (CNTAC), is the national federation of all textile–related industries in China, with the associations heading up the following product areas in its membership. It is a non-profit organization formed on a volunteer basis. The aim of CNTAC is to provide services in the modernization of China’s textile industry. CNTAC focuses its services on 12product areas, namely cotton, wool, leaf–fibre textiles, knitting, yarn dyed weaving, dyeing-printing-finishing, home textiles, industrial-textiles, apparel, chemical fibres, and textile machinery industries, and encourages the member associations and economic entities to carry out their own work independently in accordance with the respective rules and regulations. There are 34 separate entities under CNTAC, including the China National Garment Association and the Sub-Council of the Textile Industry (CCPIT), the export promotion arm.

China National Garment Association (CNGA)

China National Garment Association (CNGA) was sponsored and prepared to establish in 1991. Garments, shoes and hats producing enterprises, the related enterprises, institutions and social organizations are volunteered to join this association. It was established through the verification, registration of the Ministry of Civil Administration. It is an intermediary organization of national trade, self-governmental and non-profit.

To serve the government Entrusted by various departments of the government to conduct trade investigation, to raise ideas and suggestions on related trade policy and legislation ; to study on trade development strategy; to develop plan for trade development; to take part in formulation and revising national standards and trade standards: to organize and promote the implementation of these standards; to participate in quality management and supervision; to be commissioned to conduct early stage review for important technical innovation and introduction project, investment and development project; to undertake various other works entrusted by the relevant government departments

In order to provide more efficient service and carry out trade activities with clear direction, this association has established 7 professional committees, such as man garment, woman garment, feather garment and products, garment subsidiary material, accessories, fallow garment, and Children's garment, and also the national garment standardization technical committee etc. professional institutions. All membership units can chose to take part in activities of the above-mentioned professional committees according to their own conditions.

Secretariat is the standing organization of CNGA. There are 4 departments and 1 office under its administration: Department of Estate, Department of Membership, Department of Exhibition, Department of Finance and General Office to manage the day-to-day work.

China Fashion Designers Association is a voluntary professional organization, whose members specialized in garment-related design, art, exhibitions and theories. The Association is under the guidance of China National Textile and Apparel Council.

China Textile Network Company (CNTEX)

The China Textile Network Company (short as CNTEX), sponsored by China National Textile & Apparel Council (CNTAC) and China Textile Information Center (CTIC), established in 2000. CNTEX is playing a professional role to provide information release, consultancy, e-business, enterprise information progress, and other services for textile & apparel companies both in China and abroad. China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Textiles (CCCT)

The China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Textiles (CCCT), established in October 1988, is the leading national trade organization representing exporters and importers of textiles and clothing in China, with a membership of more than 6,000 companies. CCCT members, involved in the business of manufacturing, exporting and importing all kinds of textile fibers, yarns, fabrics, clothing, home textiles, industrial textiles and accessories, operate in 31 provinces and municipalities throughout the country. CCCT members cover a majority of Chinese traders, manufacturers and foreign-funded businesses in the textile and clothing industry, representing more than 70% of China’s import and export trade in textile and clothing.

The purpose of CCCT is to represent the interests of the industry and its members and to promote the sustainable development of China’s textile and clothing trade. The core functions of CCCT can be summarized as "Coordination, Guidance, Consultation and Service". The main activities conducted by CCCT include:

  • Protecting the legitimate rights and interests of member companies, presenting industry opinions to the government and offering proposals and references for government policy-making;
  • Assisting the government to guide and regulate business activities of member enterprises in compliance with the law, and promoting self and mutual discipline within the industry with a view to curb unfair competition and maintain normal import and export trade order;
  • Establishing monitoring and early-warning system for sensible textile and clothing products, and organizing members in response to foreign trade barriers, such as safeguards and anti-dumping cases against Chinese textiles and clothing
  • Providing members with information and consulting services on trade policies, market & industry trends, trade data and etc. through fortnightly Textile Trade Newsletter, market reports, various publications and CCCT website;
  • Organizing seminars, conferences, training programs and other related events on topics of interests and concerns of member companies;
  • Establishing dialogue mechanism with industries of other countries, and encouraging business exchanges and cooperation between member companies and their foreign counterparts by various forms of communication, such as regular/annual meetings, information sharing and business matchmaking meetings;
  • Sponsoring or organizing textile and clothing fairs at home and abroad, such as Interbrand in Beijing, China Clothing and Textiles Expo in Melbourne and the Textile and Clothing Exhibition Area of Canton Fair in Guangzhou, and organizing members to participate in trade fairs abroad, with a view to offer assistance to Chinese and foreign companies in developing both international and domestic markets.
